Apologies for the long hiatus.. we haven't been sleeping all this while! Holding our very own mini mid-autumn festival celebration, performing for the Graduate Students' Society's mid-autumn festival celebration, and of course, busying ourselves with the Beginners' Course.. the list goes on

The Beginners' Course for this semester officially ended with a little test for our participants on 19 October, Monday. Core techniques were the foci, to help participants refresh themselves on the basics taught throughout the course, while also including intermediate movesets to provide a peephole into the greater world of Wushu which yet remains unexplored. It is our wish that all Beginners' Course participants have reaped both tangible and intangible rewards from the Course and the final test. We hope to see everyone coming back for trainings often!

To everyone else, it isn't too late to join us! Catch us at the stadium behind the soccer goalposts every Monday and Friday, 7pm onwards. Don't hesitate to drop us an email at nuswushu@gmail.com if you have any queries.

Have a great week ahead!

Due to the closure of MPSH 2 from 24 September to 12 October, we will be shifting to tennis court #14 (beside the fitness corner at the soccer field) to train. If we aren't there, then look towards the semi-circular area behind the goalposts at the soccer field. And if the weather decides to play tricks on us, you may find us outside MPSH 1.

Remember, we train on Mondays and Fridays, 7pm onwards. If you have any queries or are unsure if you will fit in, drop by for a session or 2, or email us at nuswushu@gmail.com. =)

Hi all

The 8th National Wushu Display will be held this year, 19 September, 7pm at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Tickets are priced at $18, $15, $10 and $6 (student price, student card required for verification).

Student tickets usually sell out fast, and this is an event which will really open your eyes and your mind to the world of Wushu. Whatever the reason, be it to draw inspiration for choreographing advanced routines, encouragement for personal improvement or simply an excuse to escape from school work and chillax with friends, you really really should not miss out on this!

If you wish to find out more about this year's display, do visit http://www.wuzong.com/en/news/content/100.pdf for more information and details. Leave your names and contact details with us via email to nuswushu@gmail.com, and we can get the tickets all at once. As student-price tickets usually run out very quickly, we will be consolidating the orders before September descends upon us, and attempt to purchase them asap.

Don't hesitate! Buy first, think later! =D

Hi everyone.

Ok, what i like about wushu is the satisfaction that you get after training so hard for a routine, or a move and finally being able to do it. The achievements that you get is enough to make you feel that all you have worked for is worth it.

Of course, what makes wushu more enjoyable is that you get to make new friends who share the common interest, that is wushu, as you. You will get to train and improve together and also there will be lots of fun and laughter around.

So, if you are the type who would like to challenge yourself, or if you like making new friends, then come join us. See you soon.

FAQs!!!

Answers to some frequently asked questions:

Q: What is NUS Wushu like?
A: NUS Wushu is an avenue for those interested in Chinese martial arts, to meet and train with like-minded people. We work hard to improve our flexibility, strength and power, so as to perform better for performances, competitions and of course, to achieve self-satisfaction!

Q: So how often do you guys train?
A: We train every Monday and Friday, 7 to 9pm, at SRC MPSH 2.

Q: Do I need to have prior Wushu/martial arts experience to join?
A: No! All you need to have is an open mind, good attitude, and you will find loads of joy as you train and learn with us =)

Q: How much will I have to pay?
A: That will depend on your level of participation. If you decide to join one or more of our many courses, which are held throughout the academic year, you will only have to pay for the courses you join. If you decide to join our team for regular trainings, you will have to pay a monthly fee of $10 (subject to changes)

Aside from the fees above, you may also wish to purchase other stuff which may be helpful during your trainings with us. These may include things like a pair of Wushu pants and shoes, weapons (if you are interested), etc.

Q: Do I get CCA points for participating in NUS Wushu activities?
A: Yes. Once again, that will depend on your level of participation in these events. Who knows, you could even initiate an event that you wish to see happening, and be the project director yourself!

Aside from the above, we get our fair share of fun as well. Meeting new friends, birthday celebrations, outings to Sentosa, stayover camps filled with fun and madness, and much, much more. Do drop by for our trainings to learn more, or send an email to nuswushu@gmail.com, to have your questions answered.

Hope to see you soon!
